The United States military has announced that its fighter jets carried out coordinated strikes on 10 Iranian military targets at multiple locations in and around the strategically vital Strait of Hormuz. According to the US Central Command (CENTCOM), the operation targeted sites considered important to Iran’s military capabilities in the region.
CENTCOM also released black-and-white footage on social media appearing to show several of the strikes being executed. The videos were presented as evidence of the operation amid heightened tensions between Washington and Tehran.
Meanwhile, Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) stated that US attacks struck five coastal locations inside the country, offering a different account of the extent and nature of the bombardment. Iranian officials have condemned the strikes, while observers warn that the latest escalation could further destabilize one of the world’s most critical energy and shipping corridors.
