Iran’s Supreme Leader Mojtaba Khamenei has reaffirmed Tehran’s strategic commitment to Hezbollah, describing the Lebanese group as a “solid rock” resisting Israeli military pressure. The remarks came in response to a letter of allegiance from Hezbollah’s secretary-general and its fighters, with Khamenei praising their resilience and portraying it as an example for nations confronting what he described as oppression and external interference.
According to Iranian media, Khamenei said Hezbollah’s steadfastness has become an inspiring symbol for people resisting “global arrogance.” He emphasised that Iran considers the defence of Lebanese fighters a strategic policy, signalling continued political and ideological support for the group despite growing regional instability.
The Iranian leader also outlined conditions he believes are necessary for any agreement aimed at ending the broader conflict involving the United States and Israel. These include preserving Lebanon’s territorial integrity and securing the complete and unconditional end of Israeli military actions in Lebanon.
Khamenei further praised the Lebanese population, particularly communities in southern Lebanon, for their continued support of Hezbollah during the ongoing crisis. His comments reinforce Iran’s longstanding alliance with the group and highlight Tehran’s continued influence in Lebanon’s security and political landscape.
The statement comes as regional tensions remain high, with diplomatic efforts to reduce hostilities facing significant challenges. Analysts say Iran’s renewed endorsement of Hezbollah underscores the complex geopolitical dynamics shaping the Middle East and the difficulty of reaching a broader regional settlement.
