BRICS leaders have unanimously adopted the New Delhi Declaration, opposing any forced displacement of Palestinians from the Gaza Strip and calling for greater international efforts to prevent and peacefully resolve conflicts. The declaration, issued during the bloc’s two-day summit in India, expressed deep concern over continued violence in Gaza despite the October 2025 ceasefire agreement.
The leaders reaffirmed that a just and lasting solution to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict must be achieved through peaceful means and must respect the Palestinian people’s rights, including self-determination and return. They also rejected unilateral measures aimed at changing the legal and historical status of occupied Jerusalem and called for respect for religious sites and access to worship.
Amid the wars in Iran and Ukraine, BRICS urged countries to prioritize diplomacy, conflict prevention and efforts to address the root causes of crises. The declaration also warned of growing nuclear conflict risks and condemned deliberate attacks on civilian infrastructure and peaceful nuclear facilities.
On trade, the bloc criticized unilateral tariffs, non-tariff barriers, economic sanctions and secondary sanctions, arguing that such measures can undermine development, health and food security, particularly for vulnerable populations.
