Fresh Russian drone and missile attacks have killed at least four civilians in Ukraine, including a toddler, just one day after Kyiv suffered its deadliest bombardment of 2026. The strikes targeted residential areas in the Sumy region and the industrial city of Kryvyi Rih, leaving several people injured and causing widespread damage to homes, schools, businesses, and essential infrastructure.
The renewed attacks came as Kyiv observed a day of mourning for the victims of the massive overnight assault that claimed at least 30 lives in the Ukrainian capital. Ukrainian officials reported that air defenses intercepted hundreds of drones and dozens of missiles launched by Russia, underscoring the scale and intensity of the latest offensive.
President Volodymyr Zelenskyy vowed a firm response, accusing Moscow of deliberately preparing the large-scale attack over an extended period. Meanwhile, the European Union signaled the possibility of additional sanctions against Russia, while the United Nations renewed calls for an immediate ceasefire and condemned attacks on civilians and civilian infrastructure.
At the same time, Ukrainian drone strikes reportedly caused casualties and disruptions in several Russian border regions, including Belgorod and Bryansk, as well as Russian-controlled areas of southern Ukraine. The cross-border exchanges reflect the continuing escalation of the conflict, with both sides targeting strategic and industrial facilities.
