International rescue teams and humanitarian organizations from across the Americas, Europe, and Asia are mobilizing to support Venezuela after two devastating earthquakes measuring 7.2 and 7.5 struck the country, leaving at least 235 people dead and more than 4,300 injured. Hundreds remain trapped beneath collapsed buildings as emergency crews continue round-the-clock search and rescue operations.
The worst destruction has been reported in the coastal state of La Guaira, where entire neighborhoods have been reduced to rubble and over 70,000 families have been affected. Critical infrastructure, including Venezuela’s principal international airport, has suffered severe damage, complicating the delivery of aid and emergency supplies.
Countries including the United States, Brazil, Mexico, Colombia, Cuba, El Salvador, Canada, and several European nations have dispatched rescue teams, field hospitals, medical personnel, transport aircraft, and humanitarian assistance. The United Nations, the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies, and the Vatican have also pledged support, highlighting the scale of the international response.
Survivors in Caracas and La Guaira continue to face shortages of food, medicine, and shelter while fears of aftershocks keep many families from returning to damaged homes. Venezuela’s long-standing economic challenges, weakened public services, and fragile healthcare system have further complicated recovery efforts, increasing dependence on foreign assistance and international solidarity.
