US President Donald Trump has suggested that the United States could launch another strike against Iran “very soon,” identifying the country’s Pickaxe Mountain site as a possible target.
Speaking to reporters at the Oval Office on Friday, Trump declined to provide a specific timeframe for the potential operation. He said the US has been conducting what he described as “intermittent strikes” against Iranian military capabilities while arguing that there is currently no active fighting between the two sides.
Trump characterized the confrontation with Tehran as a “military conflict” rather than a war, describing it as relatively limited from the US perspective. His comments come as tensions remain high across the Middle East and as Washington continues to assert control over traffic through the strategically important Strait of Hormuz.
Trump Claims US Has Targeted Iranian Military Capabilities
Trump claimed that US forces have destroyed Iranian radar systems, aircraft and other military infrastructure associated with Iran’s defenses around the Strait of Hormuz.
He also claimed that US minesweepers had cleared mines from the strategic waterway and that Washington was controlling traffic through the strait.
The Strait of Hormuz is one of the world’s most strategically important maritime chokepoints, making developments around the waterway closely watched by global markets, governments and energy companies.
Pickaxe Mountain Could Become Another US Target
Trump specifically pointed to Pickaxe Mountain, saying the US could target the site “very soon.” He claimed Washington knows who is operating around the site and said the US has detailed knowledge of movements across Iran.
However, Trump did not provide further operational details or a precise timeline for any potential attack.
His remarks could raise concerns about another escalation in the US-Iran conflict, particularly if the threatened strike targets strategically important Iranian infrastructure.
Trump Says Iran Will Not Get a Nuclear Weapon
Trump also reiterated his claim that US military intervention has prevented Iran from developing a nuclear weapon.
According to Trump, preventing Iran from obtaining a nuclear weapon was the central objective of the US operation and one that Washington had already achieved.
“We’ve already won the big thing,” Trump said, referring to his claim that Iran would not obtain a nuclear weapon.
Trump also argued that even if US forces withdrew immediately, Iran would face a lengthy process of rebuilding its infrastructure and military capabilities.

Despite claiming that the US had achieved its primary objective, Trump did not indicate when the confrontation with Iran would end.
