Russian and Ukrainian forces launched a new wave of overnight attacks that killed three people and injured dozens, highlighting the continued intensity of the war despite growing international calls for de-escalation. Russian drone and aerial bomb strikes hit several Ukrainian regions, including Sumy, Dnipropetrovsk, and Zaporizhzhia, causing civilian casualties and extensive damage to residential infrastructure.
Officials in Ukraine reported that a 66-year-old man was killed in Sumy after a drone struck his home, while another person died in Dnipropetrovsk amid more than 30 attacks involving drones and guided bombs. In Zaporizhzhia, emergency services rescued survivors from the rubble of a partially destroyed apartment building, with children among the injured.
Meanwhile, Ukraine intensified its campaign against military and industrial targets inside Russia and in Russian-controlled territories. Authorities in occupied Donetsk reported one fatality, while strikes in Russia’s Volgograd region damaged industrial facilities linked to defence production. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy stated that key military manufacturing sites had been successfully targeted as part of Kyiv’s broader strategy to disrupt Russian logistics and weapons production.
The latest exchange underscores an evolving phase of the conflict in which both sides are increasingly relying on long-range drones, missiles, and precision strikes far from traditional front lines. Strategic infrastructure, industrial centres, and transportation networks have become critical targets as the war enters another period of heightened escalation.
