Oil Rises: Brent Up 0.45% to $73.28, WTI Gains 0.49% to $69.84 as Hormuz Traffic Remains Disrupted

Brent crude rose to $73.28 and WTI to $69.84 as ongoing US-Iran uncertainty and slower-than-expected recovery in Strait of Hormuz shipping continued to support oil prices and unsettle Asian markets.

Global oil markets moved higher on Tuesday as investors continued to monitor developments surrounding US-Iran negotiations and the gradual reopening of shipping routes through the Strait of Hormuz, one of the world’s most critical energy chokepoints. Persistent uncertainty over regional stability and maritime traffic has kept crude prices elevated and financial markets cautious.

Brent crude futures gained 0.45 percent to reach $73.28 per barrel, while US West Texas Intermediate (WTI) crude rose 0.49 percent to $69.84 per barrel during early trading. The increases reflect lingering concerns about energy supply chains and the pace at which normal shipping operations can resume in the Gulf region.

Analysts say that although vessel movement through the Strait of Hormuz has resumed, traffic remains inconsistent and below pre-conflict levels. The lack of a clear diplomatic understanding between Washington and Tehran continues to weigh on investor sentiment, preventing markets from fully pricing in a return to normal supply conditions.

According to market observers, crude prices could remain volatile until there is sustained evidence of stability in the region. The Strait of Hormuz handles a significant portion of global oil exports, meaning even temporary disruptions can have far-reaching consequences for energy markets, transportation costs, and inflation expectations worldwide.
