What Is the FIFA World Cup Round of 16?
The Round of 16 is the second knockout phase of the FIFA World Cup 2026.
For the first time in FIFA World Cup history:
- 48 teams participated.
- 32 teams advanced from the group stage.
- 16 teams survived the Round of 32.
- Winners now advance to the Quarter-finals.
Unlike the group stage, every Round of 16 match is single elimination.
If the score is level after 90 minutes:
