China Urges US to Remove Obstacles Ahead of Xi Jinping’s Planned Washington Visit

China urges Washington to overcome diplomatic obstacles ahead of Xi Jinping’s expected US visit, raising hopes for more stable US-China relations.

China has called on the United States to overcome obstacles to high-level exchanges as Beijing and Washington prepare for Chinese President Xi Jinping’s expected visit to Washington next month.

Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi made the comments during a meeting with US Ambassador to China David Perdue in Beijing. Wang urged both sides to implement the consensus reached by their leaders and reduce disruptions that could hinder high-level diplomatic engagement.

Perdue described the discussions as “productive” and said the meeting focused on preparations for Xi’s reciprocal visit to Washington. He also highlighted the goal of developing a constructive US-China relationship based on strategic stability, fairness and reciprocity.

Xi’s expected visit could become a significant diplomatic moment as Washington and Beijing continue navigating competition and cooperation across trade, security, technology and global affairs. The visit is expected to take place next month as world leaders gather in New York for the UN General Assembly.
