Zohran Mamdani Slams AIPAC, Calls Gaza Violence an ‘Immoral’ Status Quo Amid Rising Civilian Deaths

Zohran Mamdani accused AIPAC of supporting policies that have prolonged the Gaza conflict, calling the ongoing civilian deaths an “immoral” status quo and urging greater accountability.

New York City mayoral candidate Zohran Mamdani has intensified his criticism of the American Israel Public Affairs Committee (AIPAC), accusing the influential pro-Israel lobbying organization of supporting policies that have contributed to the ongoing humanitarian crisis in Gaza. Speaking during a televised interview, Mamdani argued that the current situation has resulted in continued civilian deaths despite a ceasefire, describing it as “a status quo of immorality.”

Mamdani highlighted reports of Palestinian civilians, including children, being killed in Israeli military operations, while also referencing the death of journalist Ahmed Wishah in an Israeli strike. He said such incidents demonstrate the urgent need for accountability and renewed international efforts to protect civilian lives.

Responding to questions about his previous remarks, Mamdani clarified that his criticism was directed at AIPAC’s political influence and its support for policies he believes have prolonged the conflict rather than advancing lasting peace and security. He argued that organizations and policymakers who back the existing approach should also face scrutiny for the ongoing violence.

The remarks are likely to fuel further debate in U.S. politics over America’s role in the Israel-Gaza conflict, the influence of pro-Israel lobbying groups, and growing calls for stronger humanitarian protections and diplomatic solutions in the region.
