Five people have been killed and dozens wounded in a new wave of Russian and Ukrainian strikes as long-range attacks intensify across the Russia-Ukraine war.
Russian strikes killed two people in the northeastern Ukrainian city of Kharkiv, where a residential building was heavily damaged and 23 people were reportedly wounded. Further attacks hit Odesa and Pavlohrad, damaging residential areas and critical infrastructure and leaving additional people injured.
In Russia’s Belgorod region, authorities said a Ukrainian drone attack killed three people and wounded 25 others, including children. Buildings and vehicles were also damaged and fires were reported following the attack.
The World Health Organization condemned the destruction of a medical-supply warehouse in Dnipro, while UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres reiterated that attacks against civilians and civilian infrastructure violate international humanitarian law.
The latest strikes underscore the continuing escalation of long-range attacks as diplomatic efforts remain stalled and the war continues to take a heavy toll on civilians.
