Multiple people were killed and at least one individual was hospitalized following a mass shooting at a residence in Prospect Hill, North Carolina, on Wednesday morning. According to the Caswell County Sheriff’s Office, deputies responded to reports of gunfire shortly before 8 a.m. local time and discovered several victims suffering from gunshot wounds. One victim was transported to Duke University Hospital, while multiple others were pronounced dead at the scene.
The North Carolina State Bureau of Investigation has joined local law enforcement and the State Highway Patrol to conduct a comprehensive investigation. Crime scene investigators are collecting forensic evidence, interviewing witnesses, and working to notify the victims’ families before releasing additional details.
Authorities have emphasized that the shooting was limited to the property where it occurred and have assured residents there is no ongoing threat to public safety. Officials have not yet disclosed the total number of victims, identified a suspect, or announced a possible motive.
