Lebanese Health Ministry Says Overnight Israeli Airstrikes Kill 47, Injure 97 as Civilian Death Toll Rises

Lebanon says Israeli airstrikes killed 47 people and injured 97 across multiple towns, bringing the reported death toll since March 2 to nearly 4,000.

Lebanon’s Ministry of Public Health has reported that intense Israeli airstrikes carried out from midnight until the afternoon killed 47 people and injured 97 others across southern Lebanon and the Bekaa Valley, marking one of the deadliest days of the ongoing conflict. The strikes targeted numerous towns, causing widespread destruction and significant civilian casualties.

According to the ministry, the town of Harouf suffered the heaviest losses, with nine people killed, including three women, and 14 others wounded. Additional fatalities were reported in al-Duweir, where six people, including a woman and a child, were killed, while Haboush recorded seven deaths. Three people, including a child, lost their lives in Arab Salim, and another three were killed in Tal Abyad near Baalbek.

The ministry also confirmed casualties in several other locations, including al-Sharqiyah, Kfarsir, al-Qatrani, Nabatieh, Deir al-Zahrani, Kfar Rumman, Kfar Jouz, Jebchit, Qaqaiyat al-Jisr, Adshit, al-Rayhan, Abba, al-Abbasiya, and Ain Bourdai, highlighting the broad geographic scope of the Israeli strikes.

Officials stated that the latest attacks have further increased the humanitarian toll. Since March 2, Israeli military operations in Lebanon have reportedly resulted in 3,980 deaths and 12,001 injuries, according to Lebanon’s Health Ministry. The figures underscore the escalating impact of the conflict on civilians as hostilities continue across the region.

The latest developments come amid heightened regional tensions, with repeated exchanges of fire between Israeli forces and armed groups in Lebanon raising fears of a wider conflict. International organizations have continued to express concern over the growing civilian casualties and the worsening humanitarian situation.
