Israeli Defence Minister Israel Katz has stated that Israeli forces face no operational restrictions in southern Lebanon, confirming that troops will continue operating in the so-called “security zone” despite a recent ceasefire agreement with Hezbollah. He emphasized that the Israeli military remains authorized to respond to any perceived threats in the region and will not withdraw from strategic positions along the northern border.
The statement comes amid continued escalation, with Israeli airstrikes reportedly killing dozens in Lebanon shortly after the ceasefire took effect. Israel maintains that its actions are necessary for national security, while tensions remain high across the border area.
The developments have further complicated regional diplomacy, as Iran has warned that it will not engage in broader negotiations with the United States unless Israel’s military operations in Lebanon come to an end. The situation highlights growing instability in the Middle East despite ongoing ceasefire efforts.
