Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian Arrives in Pakistan on First Overseas Visit Since Iran-US-Israel War

Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian’s first overseas visit since the regional conflict highlights Pakistan and Iran’s commitment to expanding trade, energy cooperation, and regional peace.

Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian arrived in Islamabad on Tuesday for his first international visit since the recent conflict involving Iran, the United States, and Israel. The visit underscores the importance of Pakistan-Iran relations and highlights both countries’ commitment to strengthening diplomatic, economic, and regional cooperation.

President Pezeshkian was welcomed at Islamabad by Pakistani President Asif Ali Zardari, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, and senior government officials. He is accompanied by a high-level delegation consisting of cabinet ministers and senior officials, reflecting the strategic significance of the visit.

According to the Iranian Embassy in Islamabad, the visit is intended to convey the appreciation of the Iranian government and people for Pakistan’s support during a period of heightened regional tensions. Tehran acknowledged Islamabad’s diplomatic efforts to promote peace and its role in facilitating dialogue that ultimately contributed to a ceasefire after weeks of military confrontation.

During the visit, President Pezeshkian is scheduled to hold separate meetings with President Zardari, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, and Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar. The leaders are expected to discuss a wide range of issues, including bilateral trade, energy cooperation, border management, regional connectivity, security collaboration, and expanding people-to-people exchanges.

The discussions will also review progress made under the Islamabad Memorandum of Understanding and explore new opportunities to deepen economic and diplomatic partnerships. Regional developments, including the evolving security situation in the Middle East and South Asia, are also expected to feature prominently during the talks.

For Pakistan and Iran, the visit represents an opportunity to further strengthen a longstanding relationship built on shared borders, economic interests, and regional cooperation. Both governments are seeking to expand collaboration in key sectors while maintaining close diplomatic coordination on regional peace and stability.

As President Pezeshkian’s first overseas visit since the conflict, the trip carries considerable diplomatic significance and signals a mutual desire to reinforce strategic ties at a time of ongoing geopolitical uncertainty.
