Lavrov Says Russia and North Korea Back New Multipolar World Order as Strategic Ties Deepen
Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov says Russia and North Korea are working together to promote a new multipolar world order based on equality, national interests and greater consideration for individual states.
In a congratulatory message to North Korean Foreign Minister Choe Son Hui marking Korea’s Liberation Day anniversary, Lavrov described Moscow and Pyongyang as acting as “one front” in support of what he called a more just international system. He also reaffirmed Russia’s commitment to the course established by President Vladimir Putin and North Korean leader Kim Jong Un to deepen bilateral cooperation.
The comments come amid a significant expansion in Russia-North Korea relations, with the two countries strengthening political, economic and security links. Moscow and Pyongyang have increasingly emphasized strategic cooperation as both seek a larger role in shaping international affairs.
Lavrov’s remarks reflect Russia and North Korea’s broader support for a multipolar global system, contrasting with an international order dominated by a single major power.
