The United States has intensified its military campaign against Iran, with US Central Command (CENTCOM) confirming the completion of its 12th consecutive night of strikes targeting Iranian military infrastructure.
According to CENTCOM, the latest operations focused on missile and drone storage facilities, maritime capabilities, coastal surveillance systems and air defense assets. The military said the campaign is intended to reduce Iran’s ability to threaten civilian mariners and commercial shipping in regional waters, particularly around strategic maritime routes.
CENTCOM also announced that another wave of strikes began earlier on Wednesday under orders from the US Commander in Chief. Military officials stated that the mission will continue until Iran’s capacity to threaten international shipping has been significantly degraded.
The US military said dozens of Iranian military sites have been targeted throughout the month while naval operations have resumed in the region. Officials also reported redirecting multiple commercial vessels and preventing shipping activity linked to Iranian ports as part of broader maritime security operations.
More than 50,000 US service members remain deployed across the Middle East, with CENTCOM describing its forces as fully prepared for further military operations if required.
The renewed fighting follows escalating tensions over the Strait of Hormuz, despite a Pakistani-mediated peace framework signed in June that aimed to reduce hostilities and create a pathway toward a lasting agreement. Since then, both Washington and Tehran have accused each other of violating understandings reached under the framework, leading to continued exchanges of missile, drone and air strikes.
The latest escalation has renewed concerns over regional security, global energy markets and the safety of one of the world’s busiest maritime trade corridors. Analysts continue to monitor whether ongoing military operations could further impact commercial shipping, oil supplies and diplomatic efforts across the Middle East.
