Tourist Shuttle Bus Crash in Central Italy Kills 6, Injures 34 Near Marmore Falls

A devastating tourist shuttle crash near Italy’s Marmore Falls left six people dead and 34 injured, triggering a major emergency response and a police investigation.

A devastating road accident in central Italy has left at least six people dead and 34 others injured after a tourist shuttle bus collided with a camper and two passenger vehicles on the Terni-Rieti highway. The collision occurred Sunday evening near the regional border between Umbria and Lazio, prompting one of the area’s largest emergency rescue operations in recent months.

The shuttle bus was transporting visitors to Marmore Falls, one of Italy’s most popular natural attractions, when the crash took place. Regional authorities described the incident as a mass-casualty emergency, with emergency medical protocols activated immediately after the first distress call.

According to regional officials, several victims remain in critical condition while others suffered serious injuries requiring treatment at hospitals across Terni, Perugia, Spoleto, Foligno, and Rieti. Passengers who escaped injury but were stranded after the collision were provided temporary accommodation in the city of Terni.

Emergency responders, firefighters, medical teams, and law enforcement worked through the night to rescue victims, clear the crash site, and transport the injured to medical facilities. Officials praised the coordinated efforts between emergency services in both the Umbria and Lazio regions.

Authorities have not yet determined the cause of the collision. Police investigators are examining the scene, vehicle conditions, road circumstances, and witness statements to establish what led to the fatal accident.

The tragedy has drawn national attention and renewed discussions about road safety, tourist transportation, and emergency preparedness on Italy’s busy regional highways.
