Russia Launches Deadly Strikes Across Ukraine, Killing Six as Air War Intensifies

Russia launched fresh airstrikes across Ukraine, killing at least six civilians as both Kyiv and Moscow reported major overnight drone interceptions, signaling a sharp escalation in the ongoing air war.

Ukraine has accused Russia of launching a fresh wave of deadly airstrikes across multiple regions, killing at least six civilians and injuring around 20 others in one of the latest escalations of the ongoing war. According to Ukraine’s Foreign Ministry, the attacks targeted residential neighborhoods, warehouses, fuel facilities, and civilian infrastructure in Zaporizhzhia, Kharkiv, Dnipropetrovsk, Odesa, and Donetsk regions, causing widespread destruction and disrupting emergency response efforts.

In the southeastern Zaporizhzhia region, Russian strikes ignited a fire at a gas station and damaged surrounding infrastructure, leaving two people injured. Kharkiv also came under heavy bombardment, with attacks striking residential buildings, vehicles, and a warehouse. Ukrainian officials reported one death and ten injuries, including four children, highlighting the continued impact of the conflict on civilians.

The central Dnipropetrovsk region suffered significant damage to private homes, vehicles, and a post office. An eight-year-old girl was killed in Pavlohrad, while another resident was injured. In southern Odesa, strikes reportedly set fuel tankers and a gas tanker ablaze, killing one person and injuring four others. Repeated air raid alerts complicated firefighting operations, allowing flames to spread further.

Eastern Ukraine’s Donetsk region also witnessed deadly attacks, with Kramatorsk reporting three fatalities and at least six injuries after Russian strikes hit the city. Ukrainian authorities said the latest attacks demonstrate that Moscow continues to intensify its aerial campaign despite ongoing international calls for de-escalation.

Following the attacks, Ukraine renewed appeals to its international partners to strengthen air defense capabilities and impose additional sanctions on Russia. Officials argued that enhanced missile defense systems remain critical to protecting civilians from increasingly frequent drone and missile attacks.

The conflict also saw another night of intense drone warfare. Ukraine’s military claimed it intercepted 79 Russian drones overnight, while Russia’s Defense Ministry said its air defense systems destroyed 133 Ukrainian drones. Although neither side’s battlefield claims could be independently verified, the exchange underscores the growing reliance on drones and long-range strikes as the war enters another phase of sustained aerial confrontation.

The latest escalation highlights the continuing humanitarian toll of the Russia-Ukraine war, with civilian casualties mounting and critical infrastructure repeatedly targeted as both nations intensify cross-border aerial operations.
