Top Democratic lawmakers on three key House committees are demanding immediate transparency from the US administration over the US–Iran Memorandum of Understanding. In a letter to Secretary of State Marco Rubio, Reps. Gregory Meeks, Jim Himes, and Adam Smith requested the full MoU text, related side agreements, and detailed strategy on negotiations and implementation.
The lawmakers say Congress has been kept “in the dark” for over 15 weeks about what they call a “war of choice,” citing heavy consequences including US casualties, damaged assets, depleted munitions, and rising global food and oil prices linked to tensions around the Strait of Hormuz. They also raised concerns over Iran’s nuclear program, missile activity, regional proxies, sanctions relief, and reported reconstruction funding discussions.
They are now pressing for full accountability, clarity, and oversight as diplomacy moves forward.
