An Israeli soldier was killed and seven others were injured after a Hezbollah explosive device detonated in southern Lebanon, according to findings from an Israeli military investigation reported by The Times of Israel.
The incident occurred around 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday near the Litani River, where soldiers from the Israeli military’s 36th Division were operating. The explosion struck a group of troops as they moved through the area.
The soldier killed in the attack was identified as 29-year-old combat soldier Alexander Filin. Seven additional soldiers sustained injuries and received medical treatment.
Israeli military officials concluded that the blast was caused by a Hezbollah-planted explosive device. The attack underscores ongoing tensions along the Israel-Lebanon border, where security incidents and military operations have continued in recent months.
Authorities are continuing to assess the circumstances surrounding the attack, while Israeli forces remain on heightened alert in the region amid concerns over further escalation.
